Barcelona Zoo releases its App

Barcelona Zoo has released its new application for mobile devices by the end of April.

With the new app, visitors will receive all the updated information about the zoo in their mobile, while visiting the park. Users will easily can:

locate and identify what they have around them: the application locates the user on the map and shows the animals, the plants and the services nearby.
Search and find animals, obtain the route to get there and the description of the animal.
Follow the routes designed and recommended by the specialists of the park.
Receive information about the daily agenda: the place and time of the activities, notifications and alerts when an event begins, how to get there, etc.
Know the location of services: restaurants, lockers, toilets, etc.

The application, done with the collaboration of Nexus Geographics, is now available for downloads on Google Play (for Android devices) and App Store (for iOS devices).

The Barcelona Zoo is celebrating this year its 125th anniversary, and receives over a million visitors annually.

During two days, Nexus Geographics will actively participate in the ESRI Conference, Spain 2016, supporting a Thematic Session and a joint presentation with the Municipality of Sevilla (by Francisco López and Lluís Tartera) about the web application “Sevilla, World Heritage”. The aim of this web is to stimulate the diffusion and knowledge of World Heritage properties, offering its information through interactive maps.

The ESRI Spain Conference will take place on the 26^th and 27^th of October in the Northern IFEMA Convention Centre in Madrid. It is one of the most important events of the year on GIS and geocoding. It brings together more than 2.000 users, 700 companies and acknowledged experts in ESRI technology, developers, technology experts and professionals.

During the conference, there will be several áreas with sessions and workshops to demonstrate relevant cases on Digital Transformation in which GIS is a key element. Among them, the municipality of Madrid will show how they are using this technology to convert the capital city in a Smart City. On the other hand, the government of Cantabria will show how they have applied this technology to make regional information accessible to citizens, encouraging transparency and entrepreneurship within the region. the Vizcaya Provincial Council (Lantik-), will explain how they transformed land registry through maps; or the firefighters of Barcelona, who have improved their capacity to anticipate fires in the city with geographic analysis.

In the private sector visitors can also learn about projects like one from NIVEA, in which they have achieved to optimize their sales management through a simple Big Data platform for all their employees; or Repsol who will tell about innovative practices on the development of a collaboration project on open data.

Bip&Drive is the Spanish market leader in toll systems. It was released in 2014, and its shareholders are CaixaBank and the three main highway operators in Spain: Abertis, Itínere and Cintra, operating on 87% of the total kilometers of paid motorways.

Currently, the company has a market share of 25%, and owns the largest park of Via-T devices with 500,000 units.

On December 2, the new edition of the Guía Repsol 2016 has been launched. The guide consolidates itself as the reference model in the field of tourist and gastronomic guides in Spain.

Available in digital format, printed and adapted for mobiles and tablets, the 2016 edition includes all the information updated both in the gastronomic as in the cartographic level: the guide map, as in the previous years, have been developed and updated by Nexus Geographics while the gastronomic information has been updated and supplemented with two gastronomic itineraries trough Castilla and León.

This year, as well, the guide has been divided into three volumes: the Roads Map Guide of Spain and Portugal, the Tourism Guide with the best restaurants and the Route Guidance. Guía Repsol is a guide created in 1979 that provides routes by car and tourist information of the different localities y points of interest.

Repsol is a Spanish multinational energy and petrochemical based in Madrid, it operates in more than 40 countries , is listed on stock exchanges in Spain , Argentina and the United States , with revenues of 60,000 million euros and a workforce of 27,000 people.

It is now available the new app from Abertis, Autopistas en Ruta. The application, developed by Nexus Geografics, offers all the traffic information quickly, easily and conveniently and is available for mobiles with Android and iOS.

The application offers, among other services, information on traffic conditions in real time (retention works, radar, offers and en route services), can create traffic alerts, calculate routes for regular journeys, report incidents, contact the driver in case of emergency and locate the car.

• It allows a more agile and easy navigation and gives multimodal itineraries combining Catalonia’s public transport and private transport.

The Department of Territory and Sustainability has released a new version of the Generalitat’s route finder, called "Travelling", which makes navigation more agile, thanks to a new mobile and web interface that are more simple, clean and faster to use by the user. In addition, it is the first route search engine in the state that includes the private vehicle as a mode of transportation at the start and/or at the end of the journey, allowing it to give multimodal itineraries combining public transport + private. In this way, to a citizen who, for example, lives in a residential complex where there is no public transport and wants to travel, 'Travelling' will be able to offer him as an alternative to take his private vehicle up to the closest bus or rail stop and continue the itinerary in public transport.

Another new addition is that the points of interest (POIs) have been upgraded for the search of a new route and in the part of search by stop / station, now you can find both the railway (Metro TRAM + + + FGC Renfe) as well the bus stations.

The route finder 'Travelling' can be used for any travel within the boundaries of Barcelona, the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia, as it includes all the supply of Catalonia’s public transport: buses and subway of the TMB, railways of the Generalitat of Catalonia, suburban trains, trams, buses of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, buses of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the urban bus services in the major cities of Catalonia (Tarragona, Lleida, Girona, Terrassa, Sabadell, Vic, Mataró, etc).
